News FIM ASIA Virtual General Assembly 2020 admin February 5, 2021February 5, 2021 0 Comments The FIM Asia General Assembly chaired by the Honorable FIM Asia President Mr. Stephan P. Carapiet took place virtually via Zoom this 28th of January 2021 at 0900 hrs (Swiss Time). Before the start of the 2020 FIM Asia virtual General Assembly, FIM Asia President offered a one minute of silent prayer for the departed souls of Mr. Helmy Sungkar, a beloved friend of FIM Asia & promoter from Indonesia and the victims of the corona virus throughout the world. The Meeting was virtually attended by twenty six (26) countries including two (2) guest federations from Vladivostok Russia and Iraq (Iraq is now officially a member nation of FIM under the CONU of FIM Asia) and invited Promoters. Different scenarios for 2021 racing and non-racing activities for the Asian continent were discussed such as actions undertaken by the FIM Asia during the early onset of pandemic such as the FIM Asia Cares Project wherein donations of medicines, temperature scanners, Oxymeters and testers, were sent to all FMNs and other recipients outside of Asia thru the assistance of FIM Asia HQ in Macau, AAMC of Macau, CAMF of People’s Republic of China and FIM Asia.FIM Asia launched also the first Virus Crisis Webinar last 24th of April 2020 with FIM CMI Director David Mcmanus hosted the virtual event. Also part of the agenda was the launching of FIM Asia digital Moto Championships online mobile phone game which is in line for the FIM Asia “Race at Home” program. There’s also a possibility that it will hosted as an observation sport in the upcoming 2021 South Asia Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.Mr. Stephan Carapiet, FIM Asia President also mentioned before the EGeneral Assembly the FIM Asia Event Safety Protocols which is already implemented when the events are finally resumed under the “new normal” situation. Amendments to the FIM Asia Statutes were also updated and ratified by the General Assembly in line with the FIM’s move for the updating and realignment of every CONUs Statutes and Articles to the FIM Statutes & Articles.For 2021, TWMR and DORNA, promoters of the prestigious ARRC and Asia Talent Cup, have provided their Event Provisional Calendars. SINGAMOTO SG Private Ltd., another possible promoter for the FIM Asia Supermoto Championship also made representations during the General Assembly while TWMR presented highlights video of ARRC.It was also gladly reported by the FIM Asia President at the FIM Asia General Assembly the new insurance program for FIM and FIM CONUs for 2021 in which specific details of the insurance program were emailed at once to all FMNs as per request of FIM Asia Family Members.As we all know, this was the very first time that we held the FIM Asia General Assembly virtually due to the pandemic but everything went smoothly. FIM Asia is thanking all Technical Group formed by FIM Asia President for the virtual meeting success.The FIM Asia General Assembly ended with a more positive outlook and is now moving forward for the safety and betterment of our CONU in facing the “new normal” situation that lies ahead. As the FIM Asia President said, he and the members of the Board strongly believes that there is a light at the end of this long tunnel and we should move forward now and arise stronger after this. The FIM Asia President thanked everybody for another successful FIM Asia virtual General Assembly and the FIM Asia Board of Directors for their usual support. Specially mentioned was the honorable FIM President, Mr. Jorge Viegas who has still managed to find time to join the FIM Asia General Assembly despite of his hectic schedule for the FIM Family Week. On-Road, E Commission and Off-Road Commission Meetings were held simultaneously 20 minutes after the closing of the FIM Asia General Assembly. FIM Asia also congratulated Lebanon Motorcycle Club (LMC), Chinese-Taipei Motor Sports (CTMS) and Guam Motorcycle and ATV Corporation (GMAC) for their anniversaries being honored and awarded Last 30th of January 2021, day 2 of the FIM General Assembly. FIM Asia was the sole recipient among the CONUs of the 2020 FIM Family Solidarity Trophy for its FIM Asia Cares Program. Congratulations also to FMNs NASA of Nepal, IMI of Indonesia and NAMSSA of Philippines who likewise received the same Solidarity trophy Award.
