NEWS FLASH : HISTORIC FIM ASIAN MOTORCYCLING UNION VICTORY FOR CARAPIET

The newly elected FIM Asia President Stephan “Macky” Carapiet of NAMSSA Philippines has made history at the 2018 FIM Asia General Assembly and Elections held this morning in Bangkok, Thailand. NAMSSA is the sole governing body for motorcycle sports and affairs in the Philippines, affiliated with the FIM and Philippine Olympic Committee. Carapiet clinched the top post of the FIM’s Asian arm by garnering 18 votes out of the 27 national motorcycle federations present to become the first-ever past president to be re-elected into office. With the victory, Carapiet will again be at the helm of FIM Asia in the next four years and will also take a seat in the world governing body of the FIM Suisse Board of Directors.

The FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) founded in 1904, is the world governing body for motorcycle sport and the global advocate for motorcycling. The FIM is an independent association formed by 113 National Federations throughout the world. It is recognised as the sole competent authority in motorcycle sport by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Among its 50 FIM World Championships the main events are MotoGP, Superbike, Endurance, Motocross, Supercross, Trial, Enduro, Cross-Country Rallies and Speedway.
